E N G L I S H C L A S S

My experience at English class has been very interesting, I never thought that at classes I wouldn’t have to write verbs, connector or things like that. That’s why it has been so interesting and inspiring to me to be talking all the classes with my classmates. It has been a really good way to practice and learn a little bit more about English.

But, I must admit that sometimes I don’t want to talk because I am not in a good mood or I am a little bit tired to think create a sentence on my mind.

Well, I know that level four it’s about talking, but sometimes I am too shy to say something because I don’t want to make mistakes. So, I guess I want to talk a little bit more fluency and not to be afraid to be mistaken. I really don’t know how I am going to practice, but one of my ideas is to talk with my parent and friends in English.

On the contrary, using blogs has been a really good experience, I realized that I really like writing and that I enjoyed reading my classmates stories. I have even got a good laugh reading them. Maybe I would like to write a blog in the future talking about things that I found interesting.

Outside of my class I am only using English to write something on internet or read a book. I am using it to listen to music and understand what singers and bands are trying to say when they are singing their lyrics. Finally, I watch movies and series in English. I guess that in the future I am going to use this language a lot, but for now I am using it just for simple things that a normal student would do.

C H A N G E S

One of the things that I would really like to change is some subjects I have to study, I mean, there are some of them that everybody says that are not going to be useful in the future or as an architect when I graduate, so I think that they could be replaced for another classes.

Now, talking about time I would say that workload must change because we don’t really have time for our family, friends or for taking care of ourselves. I have noticed that many of my friends have a lot of time and they study in the same university but in other faculty! they can do all they things they want and study with time! I don’t know why things are on that way, but I don’t like it.

I know that our infrastructure in not ok, sometimes I would like to have a new library as fen’s library that is AWESOME. Actually, I can’t believe they have that kind of things and we don’t, and we are on the same campus. But I don’t know why I feel so comfortable over here, I know that I can do whatever I want to do and that feels so good. 

Finally, I would like to change teaching methods, sometimes teachers don’t agree on opinions and it is confusing, I just don’t know what to do with my projects and when I do what they want, suddenly they say that I am doing things wrong, I hate that. however, second year’s students say that things change and you have one teacher that is going to help you, so I am I little more confident about that.

M Y S U M M E R

Summer is one of the hates seasons to me, I hate the sun and hot, so I try to scape of it.  However, my friends and family always want to visit the beach so I must go with them. But don´t worry, I spend a really good time with them. That’s why this summer I would like to go to Viña with my friends spending a few days at the beach doing something fun, maybe visiting Valparaiso and Reñaca. But first I must find a job here in Santiago because I want to save money to travel with my them and not to be asking money to my parents, so I could prove them that I am able to use my money wisely. I would like to work at casa ideas being a stocker in the stalls or something like that, I think that is going to be a good experience.

Going back to what I want to do this summer, with my parent maybe we would like to go to Bariloche, Argentina or something like that in Chile. We visited Bariloche a few years ago and it was an amazing experience, it so beautiful over there surrounded by nature and a beautiful lake. But maybe we would visit my grandparents first in Perquenco .

I really hope this summer meet my expectations because I haven´t had a real life this year and I really need to spent time with my friends, family and obviously with myself.

W H E N I W A S A L I T T L E

Ten years ago things were a little bit different to me, I used to live in Santiago Centro and my responsibilities were just to count to ten and play with my toys all the time. But I remember that one of my favorite things was travelling on the metro, and to be honest I don’t know why. I always thought that all the things were bigger than me, that I was being controlled by a giant that loved to play with me.

When I got into the carriage all that I could see thought the window was changing and suddenly people seem to disappear for a moment, I was into my own world where things were completely different and everything I was looking at was alive just for that 10 minutes that I was into the metro, they were saying different stories that my mind was creating while the subway was going to the final station.

The metro was passing thought different places and enormous signs with multiples colors that attracted my attention. I remember always that Egyptian pyramid that was on the road because it made me think that I was travelling all over the world and that I was an Egyptian too.

But things just came to the end when I heard my mom saying that we have to get off the carriage because we are in own destination. That´s when everything comes back to the normal and all the things that I have seen are now just the things that they just to be.

A POSTGRADUATE COURSE

Since I have been here in FAU I have felt the need to study something not related to my studies, to think about something different than workshop or stuff. One of the things that I would like do is to study French, I really want to practice a new language because I have never learned before another language that is not English I am needed of something new, something that I have never done before. That is one of my motivations, but another one is that I think that is a beautiful language and has a lot of history behind that I really would like to know.

 I also would like to complement my studies with new courses  related with human beings and their thoughts. I know that it is a little bit different and it is not completely associated with architecture, but I believe that If know about human´s behavior or the reasons why we do some kind of thing, I could understand them better and use that knowledge to create new things.

Finally, I really would like to study something that complements my studies, like to new ways to build social houses or public buildings, I think that it would be very interesting to help with all the knowledge that I would have when I turn into a real architect. I would really like to study in another country that appreciate architecture, maybe in one of the best architecture universities in Spain or France.

M Y F U T U R E J O B

I imagine myself working as an architect. I would be creating new public building because that is one of the topics that has attracted my attention this year. I almost can see myself creating and designing cultural centers or public attractions where people can enter and enjoy a stage play or listen to Chilean bands or Chilean singers.

I have been thinking that I would like working directly with the public, maybe I would visit the place where I would be creating my building and talking with people about what would they like to have on that place. I just want to have fun at work, having a nice relationship with my colleagues and be working with friends. We would have a small company so we could support each other and succeed together.

One of my dreams is to have the opportunity to travel and work at the same time, I think that it would be super fun and I would learn a lot about other cultures and ways to see architecture and design, I will see things that I have only seen on photographs and television and I will try to understand why past persons did that and how could I try to bring it to my creations.

My jobs will be related completely with my actual studies, that is the best thing. I would be able to create and make use of my knowledge on every single way. 

Workshop And Stress

This is my first year at FAU, and as a new university student I had to manage stress and new activities that I have never done before. At the beginning, I must admit that it was really challenging learn something that I haven’t done before. I remember that in my first class I was very optimistic because I knew that I had to discover new abilities that I have never used before, and at the begging maybe I would be the worse student at my class, but at that time, that was OK.

But stress just appear when I realised that I got abilities and that I was a good student in my class. That’s when I start pushing myself to get good grades, so I got stress and frustrated when things didn’t go like I want it.

At the beginning, I didn’t know how to face it, but then a friend told me that there was breathing exercises that could help me to calm down, and it worked. Doing a sport helped me too, and made me thing in other stuff not related with workshop. Finally, friends were very important to go through first year, because they advised me and made me feel like I wasn’t alone.

For new students, just don’t push yourself too hard because this is new for all of us, and maybe you will feel like you don’t have abilities the first two months, but you must hold on a little bit more because you are going to be great too. And remember that you are in FAU for a reason, and that is because you are a good student and you are capable of doing all you want.
